antiformant (n.)
A term in ACOUSTIC PHONETICS for a particular FREQUENCY range which absorbs acoustic energy because of the RESONANCE characteristics of a part of the VOCAL TRACT; also called antiresonance or zero resonance. A SPECTROGRAM of NASAL CONSONANTS and nasalized VOWELS will illustrate the presence of antiformants (as white space) along with FORMANTS.
