Cellular Connective Tissue-Ovary
Tissue from the ovarian cortex, the stroma ovarii , is suitable for the demonstration of this type of cellular connective tissue. Apart from a few reticular fibers, the cortex of the ovary contains densely packed, spindle-shaped connective tissue cells, their arrangement of ten resembling that of a school of fish ( cellular connective tissue ). These cells are still able to differentiate. The collagen fibers are a minor component. The cellular connective tissue of the ovary and the uterus is often considered a special variation of the loose connective tissue. In the endometrium, it partakes in the cyclical changes of the mucous membrane. Human ovary.
