Youth is the stage of love, dignity, and self-esteem. The young man is naturally thirsty for elevation, loftiness and natural immunity. He is repelled by everything that might lead him to humiliation and disgrace. The tendency towards dignity that is fully manifested during youth is considered one of the pillars of human happiness. If the young man is able to preserve it deep within himself and coordinate his words and actions with it, he will be able to lay the foundations of his happiness and bliss throughout his life. As for the young man who ignores his dignity, denies his pride and prepares to wear the cloak of humiliation and disgrace, by doing so he has paved the way for his misery and wretchedness, and has taken a step towards deviation and downfall. A young man who has self-respect and dignity not only does not surrender to sin and does not humiliate himself by violating the rights of others, but if he provides a service to others, he will not expect thanks and praise from them and will not ask them for that because he knows that in that is humiliation and disgrace. On the authority of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him): (Know that every honor you do or favor you do for someone, you have honored yourself and adorned your reputation with it, so do not ask others to thank you for what you have done for yourself). As for the young man who wastes his pride and dignity and does not care if he surrenders to humiliation and disgrace, he is exposed to falling into vice because he does not fear shame and scandal. He may resort to everything that is not permissible to achieve his psychological desires. The Commander of the Faithful Ali (peace be upon him) said: (He who humbles himself before the people of this world will be stripped of the garment of piety).
