Separate your Childs bed in six steps
4:18:59 2024-09-17 1574

In order for the process of separating the child's sleep to be successful and not leave a negative impact on the child's psyche, it must be done through steps and stages:

First: When and how to start?: Start with your child from the age of six months, by separating him in a separate bed of his own inside your room so that you can meet his needs throughout the night. If your child needs to breastfeed, breastfeed him and rock him next to you until he goes back to sleep, then transfer him to his bed again.

Second: Prepare your child: As your child grows, the number of times he wakes up at night will gradually decrease, and thus you can move to the second stage, which may start from the age of one and a half to two years, and in it you can get your child used to sleeping in his room, from one to two hours during the day, and he may cry if he wakes up and finds himself alone, so calm him down, but do not show him that you are affected so as not to increase his fear.

Third: Make your child an active participant in his life: Before your child moves to his room, involve him in choosing its furniture, paint colors, drawings, decorations, and special toys, and exchange opinions with him on the way to arrange his things, and let there be a dialogue between you about the importance of moving to his beautiful room that he participated in preparing, all of this will help shape his psychological and social growth and make him more independent in life.

Fourth: Use positive reinforcement: With the beginning of your child's move to his new room, use encouragement and motivation, and let the first night he spends in his room be a special night; You tell all the family members that your beloved son has become a big boy and will sleep in his room tonight like big boys, and you can spend the first night with him and his father in his room telling him a story.

Fifth: Bedtime rituals: Maintain a fixed ritual that you practice with your child every day, starting at least an hour before bedtime, in which he brushes his teeth and prepares his bed, then you take him to his bed and tell him a story and read together Ayat Al-Kursi, then put a bottle of water next to him, and when you leave, leave the door of your room and his room open, while providing appropriate lighting so that your child does not get scared if he wakes up at night.

Sixth: The system is the basis of all success: You must establish a fixed system that provides comfort for you and your child, and the father participates in establishing and implementing it; so you set a time for sleep in agreement with your child, and you gradually implement it with him until you reach this time, and try to wake him up early in the morning to make it easier for him to sleep at night, and it will help you with that to fill your child’s day with practicing various activities and games in which he releases his energy.
