How do the therapeutic approaches to education fit in with the current education system overall?

Since the 1970s the view of education has been based on ‘performance’, ‘out comes’, ‘target setting’ and ‘curriculum delivery’. The emphasis has therefore until recently mostly been placed on the teaching and learning of static knowledge and on the disciplinarian approach to teaching. However, with government statements on inclusion and inclusive practices predominating currently, therapeutic education may once again be considered a valuable educational method, encapsulating the best aspects of the humanistic approaches to education.
