Vowel systems THOUGHT

In EModE /au/ gave [ɒ:] by the mid-seventeenth century, by which time the LOT-words had [ɒ]. The neutralization of length in Suriname would nullify this distinction. So this set falls together with the LOT set as /a/ in Suriname. Examples of THOUGHT words in the Suriname creoles are the following;
