frequentative (adj./n.) (freq)

A term sometimes used in the GRAMMATICAL classification of VERBS to refer to the expression of repeated action. In some LANGUAGES (e.g. Russian) the CLASS of ‘frequentatives’ may be marked MORPHOLOGICALLY, but in English the MEANING is normally expressed through ADVERBIALS of frequency, e.g. again, regularly, often.
