It is necessary to accustom the child to firmness, and not always answering his desires, for fear of spoiling him with pampering and blessings. It is advisable for him to wear coarse clothes sometimes, climb mountains, and walk on his feet a distance commensurate with his age and strength.
However, we should always take into account the child’s health, age, and readiness in roughness, and that this be under the guidance of the doctor and be gradual in everything.
We must, as educators, prevent the child from doing three things:
1- Getting used to pleasure, because that spoils and harms them.
2- The love of idleness and laziness, as the boy should be trained to work from the beginning of his life.
3- Extravagance in everything, so as not to get used to luxury and softness.
