Morphology and Syntax Summary
Having read on inflection you should have a better understanding of the ways in which morphology and syntax interact. Inflection was primarily concerned with the expression of morphosyntactic features through inflection.
We have addressed a variety of different topics, including ways in which morphologists and syntacticians may approach inflection differently, structural constraints on the morphological realization of morphosyntactic features, and grammatical-function-changing morphology found cross- linguistically, including passive, antipassive, causative, applicative, and noun incorporation.
We will finish our tour of Kujamaat Jóola morphology with an overview of its verbal morphology and interactions between morphology and syntax.
