Preventing Accidents at Home to Keep Your Child Safe

Make sure your child’s crib has closely spaced sides that do not allow the child’s head to pass through, and that the sides are high enough for the child’s height.
Place your child’s crib away from the window, which should be protected with iron bars.
Choose toys that are appropriate for your child’s age and avoid toys or small objects that could be swallowed.
Use a safe heating device in the bedroom.
Do not place toys—especially furry or stuffed toys—or pillows in your child’s crib, as they may cause suffocation.
Keep medicines out of your child’s reach and store them in a securely locked cabinet.
Check the temperature of the water before putting your child in it. The water should be approximately as warm as your elbow can comfortably tolerate.
Keep shampoo, soap, powder, and sharp objects such as scissors and razors out of your child’s reach.
Never leave your child alone in the bathtub, even for a moment.
Do not use electrical appliances, such as hair dryers, in the bathroom, especially when your child is present.
Do not allow your child to go onto the balcony alone. Do not place any furniture, such as a chair or table, near the edge of the balcony or railing.
Install a safety gate to protect your child from indoor stairs and access to the balcony.
Do not use a mobile baby walker, as it may expose your child to the risk of falling. You can use a stationary baby walker instead.
Keep plastic bags out of your child’s reach to prevent suffocation.
Quickly wipe up any liquid spilled on the floor to prevent your child from slipping.
Avoid placing a tablecloth on the kitchen table, as your child may pull it down.
Keep matches and candles out of your child’s reach.
