Beware of disciplining when angry
1:7:55 2023-11-06 1441

Have you ever come back from work feeling stressed and exhausted?

Did you see one of your children behaving inappropriately and your anger arose?

What are you doing here?

Answer: You will scream at him, right?

But your screaming may not stop until you slap him and relieve your psychological pain resulting from your feeling of tension and exhaustion?

Do you know what you did?

You did not carry out constructive educational work for your child, but rather you carried out hostile behavior and left a negative impact on your dear son, which will have an impact on his psychological, personal and social life in the future.

Perhaps your slap to him was painful and left wounds or bruises, so you will be reprimanded according to Islamic Sharia and blamed by rational people. So what is the solution? The solution lies in adhering to the blessed prophetic rule, where the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) forbade good manners when angry, whether our anger is caused by being influenced by our children’s wrong behavior or resulting from exhaustion and tension from something else. Here are the following tips:

First: Keep in mind that you want to build up your son and not tear him down, so give yourself a few minutes before your reaction - unless he harms anyone or himself - so that a wise reaction comes from you, as a calm reaction has a deeper positive effect than anger.

Second: Patience, then patience... Patience is the most important tool in dealing with your child, and remember that everything is new for your child. There is a lot for him to experience and a lot of information that he wants to absorb and remember. As a result of the changes in psychological, physical and mental development, he may not understand and realize that you are preventing him, so do not scream or cry. Treat him with anger because he does not realize what you realize - repeat the advice and instructions to him many times and do not despair of his commitment...

Third: Be sure that anger may push you into getting involved in something that will make you regret it, so be careful of discipline while you feel angry, lest you cause damage to any of your dear son’s organs, and thus your life will turn into a torment that will not leave you as long as you look at him.

Finally, children are a responsibility, and following the teachings of the prophets and scholars in raising them is the way to preserve that responsibility.
