The South Korean company Samsung intends to produce screens with advanced features for the upcoming Galaxy S24 phones.
According to recent leaks, the company will launch the basic Galaxy S24 phone, in addition to the Plus and Ultra versions, with a Super AMOLED screen with a high brightness rate of up to 2500 lumens.
If these leaks are true, the brightness of the Galaxy S24 series screens will be more than 40% higher compared to the current Galaxy S23 phones.
Thanks to the high brightness, the Galaxy S24 screens may become supportive of the Ultra HDR technology that Google recently made available in Android 14.
Ultra HDR technology allows photos and videos to be captured in HDR format and then displayed in the same format on compatible phones.
Some Chinese companies have already made this feature available in some of their high-end phones. Although it was not available in the new One UI 6 update, Samsung is currently working on developing it, taking advantage of the expected screen upgrade.
Currently, HDR photos and videos on most Android smartphones are converted to and displayed in the standard SDR, resulting in loss of HDR information.
Some Android device manufacturers have relied on their own methods for displaying HDR files on the screens that support them, but Google is now providing a standard for this feature with the Android 14 system.
The upcoming Galaxy S24 phones are also expected to receive other upgrades in the camera and internal specifications, in addition to the widespread integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
