Scientists define a new hypothesis regarding the formation of water on Earth
A study conducted by a group of scientists at the American SITE Institute revealed the existence of two hypotheses regarding the formation of water on Earth, as the first says that the water on Earth, or a large part of it, came to it from space early after its formation.
And the Al-Jazeera website mentioned in news, that "according to the study, the new hypothesis says that the water on the surface of the planet was formed as a result of interactions between the ancient atmosphere of the earth and the magma that covered its surface early after its inception."
It was added that, "The new hypothesis indicates that most of the Earth's water was already present inside the planet, and it appeared on the surface over time, and the elements of some wet materials that contain water are found inside the Earth's mantle, in an area between the upper and lower mantle."
He continued, "When the hot magma rises from the bottom and the cold magma descends from the top, it exerts strong pressure on these materials, crushing them and then squeezing them like a sponge. During this process, water finds its way to the surface through volcanoes and underwater vents."
It was stated that, "In recent years, the study of exoplanets far from the solar system has enabled us to deepen knowledge about the various interactions that could occur in the Earth's atmosphere when it was in the process of formation, which allowed scientists to formulate new theories about the formation of water on Earth."
"The study provides a possible explanation for the evolution of our planet, but it establishes an important link between the history of Earth's formation and the most common exoplanets that have been discovered that orbit distant stars."
