A man and a woman contract a covenant in the common life and the formation of the family, and they decide, accordingly, to live together under one roof and to stand by each other forever and to walk together in the path that they have chosen, the path of married life and the upbringing of the next generation.
A covenant like this cannot be maintained easily, because the joint life requires many controls and conditions without which continuity and permanence cannot be achieved. Basically, marriage is a responsibility, as it is not possible - in any way - to continue the state of celibacy after the feeling of detachment and emptiness of mind.
There are some controls and points that adherence to strengthen the relations between the spouses and make them solid:
1- Declaration of love and affection:
It is easy for spouses to exchange love, but showing this and translating it into a beautiful, sweet phrase eliminates the possibilities of doubt that either party may have.
Islam requires that we show our affection towards those we love, and this is something that is evident in marital life. The woman, as confirmed by the noble hadith, never forgets the word of love uttered by her husband. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him and his progeny) said: (A man’s saying to his wife that I love you never departs from her heart).
2- Mutual respect:
Respect must be mutual. Failure to do so by one of the parties leads to an imbalance in the whole equation. Whoever seeks respect must respect the other party first; The prestige of a woman gives the man strength, and the man's personality gives the woman strength and enhances her position. Therefore, it is necessary for the spouses to have mutual respect and to stay away from everything that would damage this equation.
3- Progeny:
The presence of the child in the life of the spouses adds a glamour that increases the beauty of married life and strengthens its foundations. With the emergence of a smiling child in the family, a great love is born that extends its roots in the depths. As we soon see the coldness invading the lives of some of those who refuse to have children on the pretext that the children will disturb the atmosphere for them, as this is reflected in the dry and pretentious dealings; When the childhood sun rises, the snow melts and life flows into the family.
4- Chastity:
Finally, chastity and purity are the basis of the humanity of marital life, and the important factor in sustaining and continuing their joint life. Based on this, chastity and purity of clothing are required of the man as they are required of the woman, and that the husband must free his heart from every desire other than his wife, and the wife must only look at her husband. In addition to the legal aspect of this issue, it is a solid basis for preserving marriage from collapsing.
