The genus Klebsiella has a chequered history in respects to species nomenclature and typesetting with many taxonomic problem remaining unstable. With the modern additions of Klebsiella quasipneumoniae and Klebsiella michiganensis to the genus, the number of dependably published species is now at 15 species: (K. pneumoniae sp. pneumoniae, Klebsiella granulomatis, Klebsiella michiganensis, K. pneumonia ssp. ozaenae, K. pneumonias sp. rhinoscleromatis, K. terrigena, K. quasipneumoniae ssp. quasipneumoniae, K. variicola K. quasipneumoniae ssp. similipneumoniae, Klebsiella mobilis, K.ornithinolytica, K. oxytoca, K. planticola. K. singaporensis, and K. trevisanii).
But the reality is that two previous species K. rhinoscleromatis and K. ozaenae have been reclassified as subspecies of K. pneumoniae, three species have been transport to the genus Raoutella (K. planticola, K. terrigena and K. ornithinolytica,). primarily, the medical importance of the genus Klebsiella was partition into three species related to the diseases; K. rhinoscleromatis, K. pneumoniae and K. ozaenae (Janda, 2015).
