In later versions of the MINIMALIST PROGRAMME, a set of LEXICAL items out of which an expression is formed; a similar notion is called NUMERATION in earlier versions. Lexical array is distinguished from numeration in that the latter is simply the set of all lexical items in the sentence to be constructed, whereas a lexical array permits subsets (sub-arrays). Each PHASE of a DERIVATION is based on a sub-array of the whole.
