Green living means being aware of how the choices you make affect the world around you, today and in the future.
Apart from trying to persuade your parents to buy energy-efficient lightbulbs, eco-friendly cleaning products and recycled loo roll, what can you do? Have a little look...
At home
Layer up instead of turning on the heating. For an efficient way to get warm, wear a hat: a lot of your body heat escapes through your head.
Turn the tap off while you brush your teeth.
Bag up your tatty old clothes, shoes, scratched CDs or DVDs, books, school exercise books, etc, and take them to your local recycling bins.
Don't waste food. Only cook as much as you need, and freeze whatever you can so it doesn't go off.
Recycle as much as you can on a daily basis. Nearly two thirds of all household rubbish can be recycled.
Shopping
Eco fashion is a growing industry, but it's expensive. If you can't afford to buy eco, hunt out the Good Shopping Guide to find out the greenest high-street shops.
Or buy vintage: befriend your local charity shops, you'll be surprised at the amazing pieces you can find if you have a little look. Better yet, take a bus to a posh area and look in the charity shops there. Voila - designer bargains.
Keep a bag in your normal bag so you don't have to get a new one every time you buy anything.
Buy snacks and drinks with as little packaging as possible, and look for packaging that says it can be recycled.
